Mariana originally hails from New York. She received her BA from Lehman University and a Masters in Education from Columbia University. Mariana founded Terra Nova Global Realty, a full-service real estate company based in Carrboro in 1996. Mariana
has two sons, Noah and Matthew.
For the past three years, Mariana has chaired the Chapel Hill Board of Realtors Affordable Housing Committee and has chaired the Chamber’s Workforce Housing Committee for the last year. As a member of these committees, Mariana has committed herself
to promoting affordable housing to realtors, developers and university officials.
Two years ago she organized a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser and currently serves on their Board of Directors. Mariana has been a committed member of Carrboro’s Downtown Development Commission for 8 years.
Mariana supports the Orange County Housing and Land Trust by encouraging area realtors to join the organization, and as a bi-lingual realtor she has worked with El Centro Latino to identify housing needs for the Hispanic population. She also serves
lunch monthly at the Inter-Faith council for Social Service Community Kitchen.
Mariana coined the phrase “Be A Dream Maker” and asks everyone to work together to make the dream of owning a home a reality for everyone in our community. In Mariana’s kind and upbeat way, she is making a substantial difference
in this community.
Her service has not gone unnoticed by others and in 2003 she also was named the Chapel Hill Board of Realtors Realtor of the Year.
The Chamber also wants to thank you for your leadership, citizenship and commitment to community excellence.
On behalf of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, we would like to recognize Mariana Fiorentino as the recipient of the 2004 Citizen of the Year.
