Buying Real Estate in Carrboro
Carrboro is a village and it seems that everyone knows everyone else. Well, not really but it does have a hometown, small town feel coupled with the cultural offerings of a big city. There is always a lot going on downtown and so living
in the “urban core” has become a favorite destination. Home buyers wanting to live in downtown Carrboro should expect to find condos, some townhomes and historic mill houses mixed together. There a re neighborhoods within 5-10
minutes of downtown with lawns and single family homes and within walking distance to schools.
The old supply and demand theory is at work here with low supply and high demand and so prices tend to be high. The upside is that buses are free and living in a walk able community is good for your health and the earth’s. Your
tarheel-carbon footprint could be smaller here with all the walking, using the car less, recycling etc. We have sidewalks and bike lanes too.
The Team
This will consist of YOU, me, a closing attorney, a home inspector, an appraiser, and a lender. Others may be involved as well depending on the specific situation.
The first step is to arrange for you to meet with a lender to get pre-qualified so the price point of your home is identified. Then I will know what to search for in terms of price. Listening is important and so I will listen attentively
to your “must-haves,” your wish list items and also ask you questions about lifestyle, work patterns and locations, home maintenance preferences….
I will review with you the Working With Agents brochure so that you will understand my responsibilities in working with you. We will search for homes that meet your criteria and take a look. Then we will rank them and review the
features you loved and those that did not work at all. We will keep looking until we find the right place for you.
Prior to your coming to town I will email you listings that seem to fall within your broad parameters. I am happy to create a search website just for you as well. When you are here is when we refine the search.
Once you have identified a home and decide to make an offer, we will go to take another look to be sure this is the one. I will continue with fact finding and prepare a comparative market analysis for you. Then we will sit down and
prepare the Offer to Purchase. I will review with you all the necessary paperwork.
The process continues with my presenting the offer and working with you through any counter offers. Once the offer is accepted, I will assist you with the scheduling of home inspections and making appointment for the closing with an attorney. I will
get all the paperwork to your lender and appraiser. I of course will accompany you to the closing and will serve as your real estate consultant for as long as you wish.
Our goals are the same. It will be a privilege to work with you to find the right place for you to call home. After all, home is where the heart is.

P.S. After you buy a home it is common to hire contractors to do work on the home. With that in mind here is a free service where you can do background checks and evaluate local contractors. |
